New Forecast: Increased Snowfall Totals Expected, Arctic Temps To Follow Northeast Storm
Newly-released forecast maps show parts of the region could see up to six inches of snow in the end-of-week storm. Intermittent snow is expected to begin between 4 and 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with the heaviest amounts falling in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said. Snow will fall at about 0.5 inches per hour and will taper by the evening, with temps in the upper 20s and low 30s, the NWS said. A multi-agency investigation in Frederick County led to the downfall of a drug trafficking organization, authorities announced on Friday. Last month, three people were arrested as part of a wide-ranging inquiry into a large-scale trafficking organization operating in Northern Maryland in the areas of Frederick and Washington counties. A new storm system tracking along the East Coast is expected to drop several inches of rain on the region in the next two days, meteorologists say. Traffic was tied up temporarily on I-95 on Monday morning following a crash that left several lanes blocked in Northern Maryland. First responders from multiple agencies were called to a stretch of the highway near exit 77 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway/MD-24) in Edgewood, where there was a multi-vehicle crash, according to officials. Truck thieves in Northern Maryland seemingly destroyed any evidence after stealing a pick-up in Delaware and bringing it across state lines. Crews from the Singerly Fire Company were called to the 300 block of Muddy Lane in Elkton earlier this week, where there was a report of a 2016 Ford F-150 that was fully engulfed in flames. A garbage truck driver was killed after being struck by another man while on the job in Northern Maryland, state police say. Jose Gomes, 55, of Hagerstown, died at Frederick Health Hospital after he was struck by Oxon Hill resident Osman Perez Mollo's Subaru while he was picking up garbage cans on Green Valley Road in Clarksburg early on Wednesday morning. A York County, PA robber was caught by US Marshals in Northern Maryland — three months after a second child told authorities they were sexually abused by him. Anthony James Raimo, 35, of the 700 block of Harrisburg Pike, Dillsburg, was arrested on July 7 by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Washington County, MD Sheriff's Office, according to a release on Friday.
