Metro Red Line Closures Draw Complaints From Commuters In DC
Some commuters in DC are up in arms as the WMATA closes down certain Red Line trains to allow for necessary repairs during the holiday season. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information into a hate crime in Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Department of Police issued a fresh alert on Thursday as they continue to search for the vandals who tagged a bridge under Josiah Henson Parkway late last month. A Maryland man who preyed on a Washington, DC teen will spend years behind bars after targeting the girl on social media, federal authorities announced. Jonathan Willis, 37, of North Bethesda, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the coercion and enticement of a 14-year-old online after he repeatedly shared unwanted pictures with the girl and attempting to persuade her to head across state lines for sexual activity. The D.C. Metro will implement new names for five stations, the Metro announced. Starting September 11, signage and maps across the metro system will be updated to follow the new name changes, the company said. Support is on the rise for a heartbroken mother from Maryland who is grieving the loss of her high school sweetheart. Michael Gregg Dougherty, 39, died Wednesday, March 9 after battling cancer for more than a year and a half, his obituary says. A 74-year-old man from Montgomery County was struck and killed by a car in North Bethesda, authorities said. Investigators said Eric Frank Grosse Jr., of Rockville, was jogging along the crosswalk of Tuckerman Lane when he was hit at the intersection of Kings Riding Way, Montgomery County Police said. This happened just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, police said. Grosse later died at a local hospital.
