A 15-year-old girl was killed in a Maryland townhouse fire Wednesday night, while two other victims were injured, police announced. The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services responded to the blaze on the 11500 block of Shell Flower Lane in Columbia around 7:30 p.m. March 20. Crews found heavy flames coming from the second story and brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes. The firefighter who was taken to the hospital with a leg injury while battling a Maryland blaze over the weekend has been released and is recovering at home, responders have announced. Man Killed In Crash With Stationary Ambulance In Maryland: Police
One person was killed after crashing into a parked ambulance in Howard County, police say. Ricardo Perez, 36, has been identified as the man who was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after hitting a Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services ambulance late on Sunday night. Maryland State Police troopers made a daring air rescue of an injured hunter who fell from a tree stand and suffered serious injuries in Ellicott City. Longtime Baltimore area firefighter Richard Blankenship died on Dec. 20 surrounded by his family after a valiant battle against cancer. He was 47 years old. A Laurel native, Blankenship worked as a career firefighter for 20 years and was described as a "fireman's fireman." He ran haunted house "Laurel's House of Horror" for seven years.
