Two upcoming National Philharmonic Messiah performances will donate funds toward the Scotland A.M.E Zion Church, which is making headlines after it was vandalized on the night of Friday, Nov. 25, states a spokesperson for National Philharmonic.

Performances on Saturday, Dec. 17 and Sunday, Dec. 18 will use 50 percent of funds to donate toward the church in a philanthropic effort.

"In the spirit of the season, 50 percent of the proceeds from this year’s performances at Strathmore will go toward the 2nd Century Project to raise funds for the restoration of the historic Scotland African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Zion Church", states National Philharmonic. "NatPhil’s Messiah takes place on Saturday, December 17 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 18 at 3 p.m. at Strathmore and on Friday, December 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Capital One Hall".

In addition, National Philharmonic will welcome the Scotland A.M.E. Zion Mass Choir and its director Michael Terry for a pre-concert set on the Strathmore dates only (December 17 and 18). Patrons are encouraged to attend this free performance, which will start one hour prior to the Messiah in the venue’s lobby area.

Police are still on the search for the suspects responsible for the destruction and vandalism at the historically black church, and are asking anyone with any information to come forward.

The performances on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18 will be held at Strathmore, and at Capitol One Hall on Dec. 23.
