Some residents in Montgomery County were evacuated on Thursday morning when a troublesome gas leak was reported outside an area home. An alert was issued at approximately 11 a.m. on June 6 when HazMat units were called to the 5600 block of Spruce Tree Avenue in Bethesda when a two-inch gas line was struck in front of a residence, officials said. In response, some residents in the area, as well as the YMCA on Old Georgetown Road were evacuated as a precaution, according to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson said. A serious multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 83 caused delays which led to another crash in Pennsylvania, authorities told Daily Voice on Thursday. Three people were hospitalized and a road and a busy ramp had to be shut down to holiday travelers after a trash truck overturned and spilled fuel in Montgomery County. A fatal crash is now known to have been caused by a tractor-trailer going the wrong way on Interstate 83 in York County, Pennsylvania, authorities explained late on Monday night. Emergency crews are fighting a massive fire that broke out in a Baltimore County wastewater plant earlier today, authorities say.
