Neighbors in St. Mary's County reportedly gave a helping hand to firefighters overnight when a blaze broke out in a Mechanicsville home. First responders were called to the 40300 block of Wolfe Drive, when a fire broke out in the second floor of a residence, with flames rapidly spreading. The fire was reported shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10. One person was displaced by a fast-moving Charles County fire that caused an estimated $300,000 in damage. A team of 50 firefighters took an estimated 50 minutes to get a house fire under control in the 5600 block of Needlefish Court in Waldorf that started in the attic area of a single-family home late on Wednesday afternoon, officials say.
