The Baltimore Young Families Success Fund will provide 200 young parents who are living at or below 300% of the federal poverty level $1,000 a month over two years to lift up communities, according to the Office of the Mayor.

“This program will greatly improve financial stability and economic opportunity for residents by putting money directly in the hands of recipients so they can put funds towards the things they need the most", says Mayor Brandon M. Scott

Private donations, the Mayor’s Office of Children and Family Success, and several philanthropic donors have provided the costs for program administration.

This comes after Mayor Scott joined Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, a national network of Mayors who advocate for guaranteed income in a fight for equity.

Baltimore previously found success with similar programs like the Emergency Assistance Grant that was issued during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds helped ease the minds of families so they could purchase necessary household items they otherwise would have gone without.
