The former C.P. Crane Power Station in Bowleys Quarters has been scheduled to be imploded around 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, according to Baltimore County Police.

The Baltimore County Fire Department, Baltimore County Police Department, and Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police will begin to secure the area at 6:30 a.m. the day of implosion.

Road closures for the implosion include Carroll Island Road at Seneca Park Road.

Seneca Creek will be closed to boat traffic south of the site between Seneca Point and Carroll Island.

The creek and roadways are expected to reopen after the implosion.

For nearly 60 years, the plant with its 300-foot smokestacks was a prominent landmark in the county, occupying over 150 acres.

Officials say that video footage will be taken of the implosion to be shared with the public.
