Labor Day weekend is shaping up to offer a sharp split between its opening act and main event.
A cold front moving through the Northeast will bring heat, humidity, and scattered thunderstorms to parts of the region on Thursday night, Sept. 3, before cooler, drier air arrives for much of the holiday weekend.
Multiple rounds of heavy thunderstorms could affect eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delmarva through Thursday night, the National Weather Service said.

Post-Thanksgiving Storm Strengthens As It Heads Toward Northeast
A coastal storm intensifying in the mid-Atlantic will bring widespread rain with sleet and snow in some interior locations in the Northeast at the tail end of Thanksgiving weekend, affecting travel.
The time frame for the system is late Sunday afternoon, Nov. 26 into the early morning hours of Monday, Nov. 27, according to the National Weather Service.
