A woman was left unable to walk and needed surgery after a sexual assault at a Pennsylvania hotel, authorities announced on Monday, Aug. 24.
Javier Santos-Rivera, 41, of Allentown, was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault, sexual assault, simple assault, indecent assault, and intimidation of a witness or victim, Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan said.

Kristina Murphy, 28, of Wilmington, Massachusetts, was killed in a crash on I-84 near Exit 68 in Tolland on Wednesday night, Aug. 19, Connecticut State Police said. Murphy was riding in a Kia driven by Paige Cooke, 29, of Manchester, New Hampshire. Cooke also died at the scene.

Marco Leon-Lopez, 43, died after an SUV struck him Thursday night, Aug. 20, on South Main Street in Waterbury, police said.
Officers were called to the 600 block shortly before 10 p.m. They found Leon-Lopez unconscious in the road near an SUV driven by 38-year-old Meralis Rivera-Maldonado, of Waterbury, authorities said.

Connecticut Brothers Arrested After Woman’s Fatal Overdose In Rhode Island
Two Connecticut brothers face drug charges after a 60-year-old woman died from an overdose in Rhode Island, police said.
Benjamin Meadows, 31, of Watertown, and his brother, David Meadows, 29, were arrested Monday, Aug. 17, after officers responded to the sudden death of a 60-year-old at a home on Hopkinton Cemetery Road in Hopkinton, Rhode Island. Police did not provide David’s hometown.
Police determined that the woman had suffered an overdose. Investigators then began looking into who may have supplied her with drugs.
