CT Woman Accused Of Stealing $78K From Family Dental Practice Through Years-Long Scheme
A former employee of a Connecticut dental practice is accused of stealing more than $78,000 from the business through a years-long scheme, according to Fairfield police.
Barbara Economovich, 29, of Trumbull, was arrested last week and charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree larceny, and first-degree computer crime, police said.
The investigation began after employees of Southport Family Dental noticed unusual activity at the business while it was closed, as well as suspicious activity involving the company's credit card refunds, Fairfield police said.

Miguel Daniel Blake, 31, of New Haven, and Dravere "Romaine" Blake, 34, of Meriden, were shot outside Muzeum Sports Bar and Grill on Campbell Avenue in West Haven shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, police said.

Troy P. Stone, 41, of Ansonia, CT, was arrested following a months-long investigation into the burglaries, which happened in Greene County, NY, in January, New York State Police announced on Friday, June 19.

Shaleana Ellis, 22, and Dynasty Grant, 25, of Wallingford, face animal cruelty charges after police said they abandoned their pets without food, water, or proper care, leading to the death of one cat earlier this month.

A Connecticut man found guilty of fatally shooting a store clerk 10 times during a 2021 robbery will be in prison until he is 101 years old, authorities said.
Luis Morales, 38, of Bridgeport, was convicted in April of murder, felony murder, first-degree robbery, using a firearm to commit a Class A felony, and carrying a pistol without a permit, the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice said. A 23-year-old Delaware man was arrested in Philadelphia after police say a shooting at Wilmington Hospital left one 19-year-old dead and another critically injured.
John Wallace-Bey, of New Castle, DE, was taken into custody Tuesday night, June 16, in Philadelphia and is awaiting extradition to Delaware, Wilmington Police announced.
