Police Officer, Father Of 5 Strangled To Death During Fight, Investigators Say
A Pennsylvania police officer whose death was initially described as a “sudden medical emergency” was strangled to death during a fight, investigators now say.
Michael “Mike” McGeehan, 44, a longtime Middlesex Township police officer and father of five, died following an altercation with 25-year-old Paden Edward Frey on July 11, according to the Lycoming Regional Police Department.
Frey, of Cogan Station, was arrested at his home without incident early Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 7, with assistance from the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Office, police said.

A Connecticut man faces explosives charges after police say he made and stored explosive materials in a home where three other people lived, authorities said.
Aleksi Javanainen, 30, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 2, after a domestic incident, Connecticut State Police said. A second search warrant led police to bomb-making materials at his Hanks Hill Road home in Mansfield on Oct. 3.

A 44-year-old Connecticut man killed in an Interstate 91 crash is being remembered for his talent as a musician and for the lives he touched.
Matthew Bennett, of Enfield, was fatally injured in a crash Thursday evening, Oct. 1, near Exit 36 in Windsor. He was driving south when his car and another vehicle collided, sending him into a guardrail and rolling across the interstate, according to Connecticut State Police.
Emergency crews took Bennett to Hartford Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said. Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash.

A fifth measles-associated death has been confirmed in Pennsylvania as the Commonwealth’s outbreak surpassed 1,000 cases across 39 counties, health officials said.
