Field Hockey Quarterfinals Results

The FCIAC field hockey quarterfinals were held at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk Saturday with most of the drama coming in one game.  The other three featured decisive shutouts.

? No. 7 seed Greenwich 2, No. 2 Wilton 1 (OT): Greenwich pulled off a shocking 2-1 overtime victory over  Wilton.  Claire Feeney scored two goals, including the game-winner with just 20 seconds remaining in overtime.

? No. 1 Darien 6, No. 8 Staples 0: The defending FCIAC and state champs continued to roll after another undefeated regular season.  Maddie Gill and Sophie Watters each had two goals as the Blue Wave racked up it  13th shutout of the year.

? No. 3 Fairfield Warde 6, No. 6 Stamford 0: Warde had a surprisingly dominant game against the Black Knights as Stacey Dileo netted two goals and an assist.  Warde outshot Stamford 19-4 on the day.

? No. 5 New Canaan 2, No. 4 Fairfield Ludlowe 0:

The FCIAC field hockey semifinals will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2, on Dunning Field at New Canaan High School. Warde takes on Greenwich at 5 p.m. and undefeated Darien battles the host Rams at 7 p.m.
