Officials have identified a 24-year-old man whose body was found in Candlewood Lake after a weeks-long search for him.

Hartford County resident Larry Kwokpo Chan, of Bristol, was identified as the man whose body was recovered from the lake on Thursday, June 16, according to an announcement from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on Tuesday, June 21.

He was reported missing on Sunday, May 29, after he went from a vessel into the water, authorities previously reported.

Patrol vessels and dive teams searched for Chan each day after he was reported missing until his body was found, officials said.

The incident is being investigated as an accidental drowning, according to the announcement on Tuesday.

The investigation is still open pending a final report from the State Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
