Webbe Takes Aim at Easton Leaders With New Site

EASTON, Conn. – Here is a warning to all town officials: Big brother is watching, and it comes in the form a new website created by former first selectman candidate Robert Webbe.

Within the next few days, Webbe will launch Easton Eye, a site that will discuss hot-button issues in town, including driveway bonds. “I want this site to be informative, and I want to educate people and to allow the site to energize them,” Webbe said Tuesday.

The former candidate said he understands that Easton residents live busy lives and that they can’t always make it to town meetings. But that is where he comes in. “I love keeping people involved, and I want this to be a sounding board with discussion for political change,” Webbe said.

He wants to use the site as a debating platform for residents on all town issues and keep issues facing the town on the forefront of residents' minds, Webbe said. He also hopes it will help create “open and honest” government in Easton.

The new site, Webbe said, will give residents a new take on Easton’s elected officials and a deeper look into how the local government works. “These people have to be taken out, and the way to do it is through exposure and that is what I plan to do.”

Webbe, who took a beating at the polls against First Selectman Thomas Herrmann, pulls no punches when talking about the administration. “I’ve got a problem with the Easton government, and I want to change this government and get a legitimate steward in there to operate as it should.”

First Selectman Thomas Herrmann said he had no comment on the launching of the new site.
