Georgetowns own Holiday Festival returns to Main Street for a second year Sunday, Dec. 5. It kicks off at noon with a parade featuring appearances by jolly Saint Nick and his Swedish counterpart, Saint Lucia. Dr. Seuss's beloved green grouch, The Grinch, will be there too. The parade will last about an hour.
Festival patrons will have a chance to take pictures with Santa and Mr. Grinch, and refreshments, snacks, and a variety of family activities are planned. The event supports the Connecticut Hospice and donations are requested.
A presentation about Saint Lucia will take place at 3 p.m. at the Georgetown Bible Church. This event is sponsored by the United Covenant Church in Wilton, which has promoted the Saint Lucia tradition for years. Volunteers will be at the church collecting non-perishable food for people in need.
Parking will be available in front of the Georgetown Package Store and at the lot near the Post Office. The last chance to see Santa will be at the Georgetown Saloon from 5 to 7 p.m.
The festival was organized by several Georgetown businesses and volunteers, including Bill Dexter, Cara Trail and Fernando Pereyra, owner of the Olive Market.
