Easton Banjo Players Strike a Christmas Chord

If you're looking for a fresh take on classic Christmas tunes, the Easton Banjo Society's concert Dec. 19 might have what you need.

The dozen-member band will perform a Christmas Concert and Sing-Along to benefit filmscool.org, a program of the Community Film Institute that introduces young people to video and filmmaking.

The show starts at 3 p.m. at the CFI theater at 1424 Post Road in Fairfield. Tickets are on sale through the day of the event. General admission tickets cost $10 each. Tickets for seniors and children are $5.

The Easton Banjo Society has been entertaining audiences of all ages for more than a half-century. Founded in Easton in 1957, the group consists of a dozen players on tenor, plectrum, five-string, mandolin-banjo and guitar-banjo. The banjos are backed by ragtime-style piano, sousaphone, drums and washboard – a sound sure to put some swing in your step.
