Dog Tied to Fence in Weston Doing Well, Vet Says

WESTON, Conn. - A dog that was tied to a fence in Weston is doing well, according to a veterinarian who is now focusing on finding him a home.

On Monday, residents on Ridge Road found a dog tied to a fence on their yard without any tags, collar or identification. The family took the dog to South Wilton Veterinary Hospital for observation and called Weston Animal Control, Officer Mark Harper said.

The dog has been under observation at the vet hospital since Monday and, said Dr. Stacy Robertson, "he seems really sweet and appears to be in good external health."

The dog, who doesn't have a name, appears to be a husky/shepherd mix and 10 to 12 years old, Robertson said. "He's a friendly, old geezer," she said.

"He is eating well and he seems a good, old soul. Now we just need to find him a home," she said. Veterinary hospitals and animal shelters in Weston, Westport and Wilton have been notified in hopes that an owner would be identified, but no one has come forward yet, Robertson said.

The dog will most likely stay in Wilton over the holidays and will be available for adoption on Jan. 2. Per state law, all stray dogs need to be held for 14 days before they can be adopted.
