Weston Artist Displays Love of Nature

WESTON, Conn. ? Weston resident Susanne Keany is one of two artists currently showing a collection of paintings at the ArtPlace Gallery @ the Watermark in Bridgeport.

Keany’s collection, “Close Encounters”, is a series of large-scale, realist, nature-themed oil paintings.

“As a Connecticut resident who resides near a river and the coast, nature has always been the subject of my work; I cannot return from the water’s edge without picking up shells and stones and other bits of natural material, which I never fully perceive until I enlarge them through painting,” said Keany.

A painter and a sculptor, Keany has displayed her work in various galleries and museums including Bridgeport’s Bruce Chernow Gallery, MAG Gallery in New York and The Gallery at 666 Broadway in New York City.

“Painting for me is about perception and a desire to impart the intensity of what you are seeing on the viewer,” said Keany.

Also showing work alongside Keany is former Hurlbutt Elementary School and Weston Intermediate School art teacher, Megan Collins. Their work will be on display until Dec. 27.
