Growing with increased popularity in Weston and neighboring towns, the 2014 Fair will open for the first time on the Friday of the holiday weekend. Also new for 2014, daily unlimited-ride bracelets can be purchased for $30 and used from the moment the fair opens each day to closing time.

Weston’s Fair is known for offering carnival rides and games for all ages, lunch and dinner menu options sponsored by the Weston Kiwanis Club, as well as other fair type food, a bake sale, local venders and live entertainment.

Each year student bands from around Fairfield County audition for a chance to perform at the well attended Saturday night “Blanket and Chairs” concert. The concert starts at around 3:00 p.m. and runs to about 8:15 p.m. The 2014 line up showcases student talent from Weston, Westport, Easton and Fairfield.

The Fair is the largest fundraiser for Weston’s elementary and intermediate schools and is held behind Weston’s Hurlbutt Elementary School at 9 School Road.

The 2014 Fair is cash only and will be open Friday, May 23, from 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 from 2 to 10 p.m. and Monday, May 26 from 12 to 4 p.m.

Other Memorial Day weekend events include the One-Mile Kids Fun Run ($10 registration fee) and the USATF certified 5K Race and Walk ($25 registration fee).

Both are sponsored by the Weston High School and scheduled for Saturday, May 24. Many cash prizes for race winners will be awarded. Participants can register at www.weston5k.com or in person on May 24 prior to 8 a.m. Refreshments and free race T-shirts will be provided for the first 500 registrants.
