A Westchester man faces a larceny charge after stealing an expensive item from a HomeGoods location in Fairfield County, returning it for store credit, and then using this credit to buy more products and ultimately receive a refund on his credit card, police said.
Mount Vernon resident Movado Thomas, age 25, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 16 in connection with his alleged theft of an expensive item from a HomeGoods store in Westport at 1850 Post Rd. East (Route 1), Westport Police announced on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Two Connecticut men, including one who was the subject of an hours-long manhunt in Westchester, face charges after stealing a vehicle, a submachine gun, and a semiautomatic handgun, police said.
The incident began on Monday, April 24 around 1:30 p.m., when Westchester County Police were alerted that a stolen black Audi from Fairfield County was traveling near the border of Pelham and Mount Vernon, according to the department.

Sidney Poitier, First Black Actor To Win Oscar, Longtime Westchester Resident, Dies
Trailblazing, Sidney Poitier, the first Black actor to win an Oscar, a longtime New York resident has died.
Bahamian Prime Minister Phillip Davis made the announcement that Poitier died on Thursday, Jan. 8 at the age of 94.
A native of Cat Island in the Bahamas, Davis said: "The whole Bahamas grieves the celebrated life of a great Bahamian."
Poitier, who grew up on a tomato farm and taught himself to read and write, became a resident of Westchester County, moving to Mount Vernon in 1956.

Fairfield County Man Among Trio Charged For Drive-By Shooting That Injured Four
Three suspects, including a man from Fairfield County, have been apprehended after four people were injured, one critically, in a drive-by shooting in Westchester.
On Thursday, June 10, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers responded to the area of Elm Street at Oak Street in Yonkers on a report of a shooting incident with multiple victims.
Upon arrival, officers located three gunshot victims, the most serious of which having been struck in the chest, Yonkers Police said.
