A restaurant based on a hit television cooking competition hosted by one of the world's biggest culinary stars is set to debut in Connecticut later this year. Foxwoods Resort Casino, located in Mashantucket in New London County, announced that Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen will open in the Grand Pequot Concourse this summer. Following the example of many grocery outlets amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, a Connecticut casino is designating senior-only floors and time slots this November. Every weekend between 10 a.m. until midnight, the Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket will reserve one of its five floors, its Rainmaker Casino, for guests that are 55 or older, born in 1965 or earlier. The president and CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 18. Felix Rappaport was 65 years old. During Rappaport's more than four years as a visionary leader of one of the world's largest and most successful gaming enterprises, his contributions to the broader Foxwoods team have been profound, the company said. In a wild and crazy day, perhaps fittingly held at Foxwoods, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton held off a strong challenge from former Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst and a strong showing from Stamford native Steve Obsitnik of Westport to win the Republican Party's Convention endorsement for governor at the casino in Mashantucket.
