Michael Skakel Won't Be Retried By State For Martha Moxley Greenwich Murder
Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel will not be retired for the death of Martha Moxley in the Belle Haven section of Greenwich in 1975. In a stunning announcement, Connecticut Chief State’s attorney Richard Colangelo said on Friday, Oct. 30, that he would not retry Skakel because he could not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. While speaking before Stamford Superior Court Judge Gary White, Colangelo said a recent review of the case showed that of the 51 potential witnesses, 17 had died. State prosecutors are asking the Supreme Court to put Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel back behind bars, saying he should not still be free more than a year after the court reinstated his conviction for the murder of Martha Moxley, according to multiple news reports.
