Chemical Spill At SHU In Fairfield Causes Large Hazmat Response A chemical spill at a Sacred Heart University science lab in Connecticut caused an evacuation and a hazmat response. The incident occurred in Fairfield around 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the university. Fairfield Fire Department units quickly responded and found the building had been evacuated and secured by the SHU Department of Public Safety. As a precaution, due to the unknown chemicals spilled and possible reaction, the Fairfield County Hazardous Incident Response Team was called to the scene to make entry to determine what chemicals had spilled, and check for any chemical reaction…
