Biggest Player Contract Ever In Sports: NY Yankees' Juan Soto Signs With Rival Mets For $765M
It's truly one for the books. New York Yankees free agent right fielder Juan Soto has reportedly agreed to a $765 million, 15-year deal to go crosstown and join the rival Mets. It's the largest deal in pro sports history, with no deferred money, a $75 million signing bonus, and an opt-out after five seasons, according to mlb.com. The signing represents a bold move for Mets owner Steve Cohen in his quest to build a championship-caliber team. He outbid not only the Yankees but also Soto's other suitors: the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Toronto Blue Jays. News…

New England Native Sets Yankees Rookie Home Run Record
The Yankees are among the greatest franchises in sports history, but none of the team's Hall of Famers did what Massachusetts native Ben Rice was able to pull off. The Cohasset native hit three home runs in the Yankees' 14-4 shellacking of the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, July 6 in the Bronx. It was the most times a rookie has ever gone yard in a single game for the Yanks. “It’s definitely a day I’ll never forget,” Rice told MLB.com. “I’m just pumped that it was a big-time win for us, a good bounce-back win, and over my hometown team. So it’s pretty cool.” The Yankees' social med…

"Tommy Lasorda would introduce me either as the mayor of Stamford or ambassador of Stamford," Valentine said, referring to the late Los Angeles Dodgers manager. The 71-year-old Valentine can't pinpoint…

Calls Made For Firing Of Newly Named Mets Manager After Baseball Cheating Scandal Report
Some are now calling for the firing of Carlos Beltran before he even got into the dugout for his first game as New York Mets manager. Beltran, the former nine-time all-star outfielder who was hired as skipper in November, is in hot water for his role in the Houston Astros elaborate sign-stealing system in 2017 that led to the harshest sanctions levied against an MLB team. Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred named Beltran in his newly released report, which highlighted the extent that some members of the Astros organization went through to steal signs during their World Series sea…

A Fairfield County man who was a passenger on a Metro-North train in Westchester when a man was electrocuted after climbing on the roof of a train said the event was a "horrible" experience.
