Fairfield's Ann Monk, 87, Was Founding Member Of Town's Gaelic-American Club
Ann (Monahan) Monk, age 87, of Fairfield and beloved wife of the late George S. Monk, died Saturday, Jan. 22, at Sturges Ridge in Fairfield.
Born in Lissycasey, County Clare, Ireland, she came to the United States in 1950. Being the wife of a career Air Force veteran, Ann lived in many areas throughout George’s 21-year career, finally settling in Fairfield in 1972.
Ann worked for many years as an LPN at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital and also in private duty. She was a founding member of the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield and could often be seen registering members and g…

Lulgjuraj discovered actress Diane Keaton’s wallet from more than 50 years ago concealed within the dusty wooden box in the storage locker, according to the Daily News.
After noting that everything within the wallet appeared to be more than half a century old, including the 1966 driver's license, which read "Diane Hall," the 45-year-old Lulgjuraj, of Hopewell Junction, told the Daily News that he recognized the woman's image.

Airman Who Grew Up In Fairfield County Killed In Crash
A U.S. Airman from Bridgeport who died in a multiple-vehicle crash in Idaho will be remembered Sunday, July 1.
Lawrence Manlapit III, 29, the son of Lawrence Manlapit, Jr. and Dorine Norko, who is a transportation specialist for the Bridgeport public schools, was killed June 16 in a multi-vehicle crash on I-84 outside of Boise, Idaho, said the Idaho State Police.
Two other airmen and a truck driver were also killed in the crash, police said.
