Fairfield Teacher Running NYC Marathon To Support Sandy Hook Promise FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- At the starting line of this year's New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 6, fans may notice some runners wearing green and white T-shirts with the logo "Sandy Hook Promise." Fairfield resident Meg Capodanno, who is running her 31st marathon, will be among them. The Sandy Hook Promise, which is based in Newtown, is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent gun-related deaths due to crime, suicide and accidental discharge. Students At Stamford's Westhill HS Get Animated In Mock Presidential Debate STAMFORD, Conn. -- Will it be Clinton? Or Trump? More than 100 people tried to decide who was the better candidate Friday afternoon at the Mock Presidential Debate at Westhill High School in Stamford. The debate was hosted by the Advanced Placement Government Class under the direction of Sheryl Berkley, the teacher. It was modeled after an actual presidential debate and included students who portrayed each of the candidates -- Rebecca Siegal was Hillary Clinton and Nicholas Smeriglio was Donald Trump. Godfrey Blasts Challenger For 'Smear Campaign' DANBURY, Conn. -- Bob Godfrey, a Democrat running for his 14th term representing part of Danbury in the state House, said that he has never before faced what he called a smear campaign via social media by an opposing candidate. Nar-Anon Support Group Forms In Danbury To Help Loved Ones Of Addicts DANBURY, Conn. -- When Linda began going to a Nar-Anon support group, her life changed dramatically -- so much, in fact, that she decided to start a group closer to her home in Danbury. Fairfield Police Seek Suspect In Theft Of Items From Van At Car Dealership FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Police Department is looking for a man who stole tools and electronics from a van inside a car dealership, according to a post on the Fairfield Police Department's Facebook page.The theft occurred on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 4:30 p.m., according to the post. Rain Can't Stop Trick-Or-Treaters As Parade Moves Indoors In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. — Batman and Batgirl, also known as Jackson and Melissa Good, swooped in for the 20th annual children's Halloween event Thursday afternoon at Westport Town Hall. It's usually held outdoors with a parade of trick-or-treaters that goes up Main Street to Avery Place to Myrtle Avenue. But due to the heavy rain, the event was relocated inside Town Hall. Danbury Man Busted On A Dozen Drug, Gun Charges In Parking Lot DANBURY, Conn. -- A Danbury man was arrested on multiple gun and drug charges Wednesday after officers saw him about to begin a drug deal in a North Street parking lot after a court appearance, according to police.At 1:23 p.m., SWAT team members seized Devante Laurel, 24, in the rear parking lot of 26 North St., at Millenio Barbershop, police said.
