The winners were led by a strong pitching effort from starter Trey Donaghue, who gave up just two hits over four innings, and Bradley Pepp and Hunter Semel, who finished the scoreless effort in relief, a statement said.

Hunter came on in the seventh with two on and no outs. He struck out the three batters he faced to end the game.

The star at the plate for Scoffield was Donnie Depina, who had two hits, including a two-run triple in the fifth inning.

Cloonan’s Matt Greco was impressive on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings and giving up five hits, the statement said. Several errors behind Matt led to the runs.

Seven teams took part in the the middle school program this year, and it hopes to expand the program further for next year.
