Veteran Ralph Tartaglia, 84, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Ralph “BaBa” Tartaglia of Stamford died Tuesday, April 16. He was 84.

Tartaglia was born in Stamford Sept. 3, 1928, to Samuel and Maria Elizabeth Turcio Tartaglia.

He was master mason for more than 50 years, before retiring in 1991, and was a delegate for the Bricklayer’s Union Local #8 in the 1970s. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Tartaglia is survived by his wife, Sally Kaminski Tartaglia of Stamford; daughter, Sallie Craig (Tim) of Stamford; son, Michael Tartaglia (Rhonda) of Greenwich; four grandchildren; sister, Cecilia Ottaviano (Ted) of Stamford; brother, Dave Tartaglia (Carol); sister-in-law, Maryanne Tartaglia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; stepmother, Mary Lupinacci Tartaglia; brother, Sam Tartaglia; and sister, Camille Tartaglia.

Calling hours are Thursday, April 18 from 4  to 7 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave.,  Stamford.  A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Friday,  April 19 at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be held privately at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place Stamford.
