Rain, snow and sleet were expected to continue through Thursday night with little accumulation, the National Weather Service said. Temperatures on Wednesday afternoon were in the mid- to high 30s and expected to go up to the mid-40s by Thursday, the forecast said.
The snow and wet weather was not the only concern for people Wednesday, with the National Weather Service issuing several warnings for the area.
A high wind warning was issued at about 3:30 p.m., with gusts expected to range from 25 to 35 mph, with some gusts reaching as high as 60 mph. The strongest wind gusts were expected Wednesday night.
A coastal flood warning was in effect from 8 p.m. to midnight and then a coastal flood advisory for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Tides were expected to be 2 to 5 feet above astronomical tides during those times.
The weather service also issued a hazardous weather outlook because of the high winds, snow and flooding threats.
