Heavier Snow Heads Toward Fairfield Coast

FAIRFIELD COUNTY — Halloween in Fairfield County may look a little more like Christmas this year. A rare October snow storm is forecast to hit the coast with up to 7 inches of the white stuff Saturday night.

Snow totals are rising as the storm approaches, the National Weather Service says.

A mixture of rain and snow will begin falling during the day Saturday and turn to all snow Saturday evening before tapering off late Saturday night. Branches laden with heavy, wet snow could fall and knock out power, the National Weather Service says.

The sun should return Sunday, with highs in the mid-40s, and the trick-or-treating forecast for Monday night is clear skies and temperatures dropping from the 50s to the low-40s.
