First Winter Snow Blankets Fairfield County

FAIRIFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - Fairfield County residents woke up to a coating of snow Saturday, with a few more inches to come before the first winter storm of the season moves out.

The region could get up to 7 inches of snow by Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service says. There's a slight chance of "freezing drizzle" after the snow ends around 3 p.m., but the National Weather Service doesn't expect any ice to accumulate.

Saturday night will be chilly, with a low around 16, and Sunday should be sunny, with a high in the mid-30s, the National Weather Service says. There is a chance of rain and sleet Sunday night, and Monday should be rainy and much warmer, with temperatures approaching an unseasonable 50 degrees.

As of 9 a.m., Connecticut Light & Power was reporting only one customer without power in Fairfield County, and that was in the north in Brookfield.
