Western Connecticut State University Announces New Nickname
Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) in Danbury announced that following a multi-year discussion that included town halls and online balloting, the school will now identify as the “Wolves.” The Wolves nickname replaces “Colonial Chuck,” who reportedly raised concern for its representation of a violent period in American history by representing a minuteman from the Revolutionary War. Online Sports Wagering, iCasino Opening In Connecticut
Online sports wagering and iCasino are set to make their debut in Connecticut sooner than expected. Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont announced that as of 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, the Mohegan Tribe, and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe can start offering online gambling to adults 21 and older. Lamont Signs Bill Establishing Sports, Online Gambling In CT
Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont has signed legislation that will legalize online gaming and sports wagering. On Friday, May 27, Lamont made it official a day after the state Senate passed a bill to make gambling legal in Connecticut, signing the bill into law at the State Capitol. The CT Lottery can also have in-person sports betting at up to 15 licensed facilities including one in Hartford and one in Bridgeport. Gov. Ned Lamont and Connecticut’s two federally-recognized Native American tribes have reached an agreement on sports betting and online gambling. The State of Connecticut has now reached a formal deal with the Mohegan Tribe, with another one “inches away” from Foxwoods to legalize sports betting and online gambling in the state. Gov.
