In the wake of the latest mass shootings in Buffalo and Texas, Gov. Kathy Hochul is calling on state lawmakers to pass legislation making it more difficult for young New Yorkers to purchase some types of guns. A Connecticut man was arrested by police after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers prevented him from carrying a loaded handgun onto his flight at the Westchester County Airport. The incident involving a man from Fairfield County happened on Tuesday, April 5 after the Town of Fairfield resident was busted with a .40 caliber gun loaded with 10 bullets attempting to board a flight at the White Plains airport. Fairfield County Man Sentenced For Selling Ghost Guns To Undercover Police Officer
A Connecticut man was sentenced in federal court in Boston in connection with selling two “ghost guns.” Fairfield County resident, Brian McCarthy, age 33, of Bridgeport, was sentenced to 30 months in prison and two years of supervised release, according to the US Attorney's Office. McCarthy pleaded guilty to one count of dealing firearms without a federal license in May, officials said. The identity has been released for a convicted felon who allegedly committed an armed robbery at the Westfield Trumbull Mall before being apprehended after an hourslong standoff after a crash at a nearby intersection, police announced. Convicted Felon Arrested For Accidentally Shooting Himself With Illegally-Owned Gun In Norwalk
A 26-year-old convicted felon from Fairfield County has been arrested for allegedly accidentally shooting himself in September while playing with an illegally-possessed gun in his backpack. On Thursday, Sept. 24, officers were called to Norwalk Hospital for a victim suffering from a single gunshot wound, said Norwalk Police Lt. Jared Zwickler. Record-High Gun Control Support After Florida Rampage, Quinnipiac Poll Says
In the wake of the mass shooting in Florida last week, a new national poll shows that Americans are ready for tougher gun laws and are fed up with the lack of support from lawmakers. In the new independent Quinnipiac University poll released on Tuesday, American voters support stricter gun laws 66 to 31 percent, the highest level of support ever measured, the pollsters found.
