: Connecticut Prescription Monitoring Has Not Prevented A Rise In Drug Overdose Deaths
Despite great effort, the Connecticut Prescription Monitoring Program isn’t adequately tracking when strong drugs are prescribed or dispensed, according to a report by the state’s Auditor. The audit found that while most people made good use of the system, the program needs legal, enforcement, and data collection tweaks to be more effective. Five Fatal Fentanyl Overdoses In One Day Leads To Unrest For CT Police, Officials
Elected and police officials in Connecticut are expressing concerns after there was a spike in overdose deaths - including five in 15 hours - involving fentanyl and other drugs. Officers from the Hartford Police Department reported that between approximately 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3 through 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, officers were dispatched to five fatal fentanyl overdoses in specific areas of the city. Person Of Interest Arrested In Connection With Overdoses Of 30-Plus People At City Park
As the number of people who have overdosed has grown to more than 30 people at a New Haven city park, a person of interest has been arrested. Officials began receiving reports of drug overdoses at the park known as the Haven Green, Tuesday evening when three people were believed to have overdosed, officials said.
