18-Year-Old Drove Drunk, Crashed Vehicle In Fairfield County, Police Report
An 18-year-old man is facing charges after police said he drove drunk in Fairfield County and lost control of his vehicle.
Officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Scofield Farm Road in Darien at about 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, the Darien Police Department reported on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
The driver, identified as Sebastian Urrea, of Westport, told police he was lost and when he tried to make a U-turn, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility box, police reported.

Man Accused Of Leaving Scene Of Fairfield County Crash, Police Say
A Fairfield County man has been arrested for allegedly crashing a vehicle and leaving the scene.
Emmanuel Segarra-Otero, age 30, of Stamford, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 6, after turning himself in to New Canaan in connection with the crash which took place on Saturday, June 12, on the Merritt Parkway, said New Canaan Police Lt. Jason Ferraro.
According to Ferraro, when officers arrived at the single-vehicle crash site, they located an unoccupied vehicle that had crashed into the guardrail on Old Stamford Road.

Police To Conduct DUI, Aggressive Driving Enforcement Effort In Monroe
Drunk drivers beware, the Monroe Police Department will be conducting a DUI and unsafe driving enforcement over the weekend.
The enforcement will run from late evening Saturday, Feb. 1, to the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 2, said Monroe Police Lt. Stephen Corrone.
The primary purpose of the enforcement is the detection and apprehension of intoxicated drivers, Corrone said.
In addition to the checkpoint, officers will also be enforcing speed limits, looking for distracted driving, and seatbelts requirements and aggressive driving throughout the checkpoint.

A Norwalk police officer has been honored for his work to help keep drivers safe by being named the 2019 AAA Northeast Traffic Safety Hero of the Year.
Officer John Haggerty, a 22-year veteran of the department, was recognized along with his peers at a ceremony held on Thursday, Oct. 31, in Bridgeport, said Norwalk Police Lt. Terry Blake.

Over the two-day Fourth of July time period so far, Connecticut State Police say troopers have responded to a total of 79 motor vehicle crashes, with one serious injury.
Since the holiday enforcement got underway on Wednesday, July 3, at 7 p.m., state police responded to 2,642 calls for service, including the 79 for crashes, which, fortunately, none resulted in fatalities.

A Milford Police officer has been charged with negligent homicide in connection with the July 20, 2018, death of a 50-year-old pedestrian who was hit and killed by the officer.
Courtney Bothwell, 28, of North Haven, was charged Wednesday, Jan. 2, by Hamden Police following an investigation into the crash on Dixwell Avenue, in the vicinity of Old Dixwell Avenue, said Hamden Capt. Ronald Smith.

A school bus with 10 children aboard was hit head-on after the driver of an SUV allegedly became distracted by his cell phone.
The crash occurred around 8:23 a.m. Friday on North Main Street, between the bus, which was transporting students to Besty Ross Magnet School in New Haven, and the 2002 Chevy Blazer, said Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch.
