The Mid Fairfield Stars 14-and-under girls hockey team celebrated its Tier I national championship after beating Assabet Valley of Massachusetts, 3-2, in a shootout Sunday in Rochester, Mich.
The Stars' roster included Norwalk's Nicole Lue and Annie Defrino, Darien's Sasha Fritts and Fairfield's Taegan Blackwell. The team, coach by Norwalk's Moe Tarrant, finished the season 48-6.
