Fried, Seiler Capture Wilton Open Crown

Mike Fried and Alex Seiler defeated Juan Arraya and John Holmes, 6-4, 6-2, to win the Open Draw in the Wilton Open platform tennis tournament.

The tournament featured 64 two-man teams, including 16 players who hold national rankings. Players from Boston to New Jersey competed.

In the Open Consolation tournament, Todd Parker and Nick Bergman decisioned Michael Chen and Harry De Mott, 6-4, 6-2. Tom Kratky and Marco Grangiero topped Adam Mirsky and J.J. Cramer in the Open Reprieve. In the Open Last Chance draw, Jared King and Christian Toft-Nielsen defeated Christian Bangert and Ritush Venugopal.

Jared Lissauer and Jason Adler won the B Main draw with a 6-4, 6-2 win over John Moore and Jason Fairbrother. In the B Consolation, Jerry Whitlock and Walter Cromwell topped Sean Martin and Nick Hanna.

In the B Reprieve, Russ Kohl and Greg Wheeler outdueled Greg Standor and Danny Zahler. Phil Penny and Darren McCullough took the B Last Chance title by defeating James Newfield and Dave Sheridan.

The festivities included Caribbean music, barbeque by Bert (and others), favors, prizes, kegs, Kraken rum and a huge crowd to watch the finals. Organizers were Todd Parker, Russ Kohl, Bill Fanning, Bob Beatty, Ron Gayda and Steve (the Kraken) O'Connell.
