Paula Kroll thanks the day a client of her husband suggested they move to Stamford. We were living on Long Island. My daughter had just been born and we wanted a bigger house, Paula says. Her husband, Alan Kroll, an attorney with a practice in Manhattan, was a native New Yorker. He said hed give Connecticut a try, but Stamford was as far as he was willing to go, she says. They moved in 1983 and the Krolls havent looked back.
Paula has just stepped down from a two year position as president of the Stamford Board of Realtors. There were lots of meetings I had to attend, Paula says. Despite the amount of time she spent running committees, Paula won a prestigious award that takes an even greater amount of work she was Stamfords 2010 Realtor of the Year.
I first started in real estate on Long Island in 1977, Paula says. When we moved to Stamford I got my Connecticut license. She says finding her way around a new town wasnt a problem. These days Paula sells homes in all the lower Fairfield County towns. About 10 years ago a lot of the relocation companies who sent us clients wanted to work with agents who worked in more than one town, she explains. Paula promptly joined all the local Multiple Listing Services (MLS) in order to better service her clients. She's also pretty savvy when it comes to advertising. Theres an automatic feed from the MLS to so many sites, she says. Like Zillow and Trulia. Ive been doing Craigslist for about three years as well, she notes.
Paula is looking forward to getting back to her volunteer activities now that shes no longer chairing committees for the Stamford Board. I used to be involved in lots of community activities, she says, like the blood drive and the Ferguson Library. And now shell have more time for her two passions, the theater and traveling. We go to the theater a lot, she says. Lincoln Center, Broadway and here in Stamford. I just love it all. And she's got a great trip planned to Ireland.
