Denise Gannalo, an agent with William Raveis Real Estate in New Canaan, reports that sales of real estate during the first half of 2011 showed a significant improvement over the same period in 2010. She says the total number of sales increased 17 percent during the first six months of the year, with 136 closings in 2011 compared to 116 in 2010. Total volume increased to $255.314 million from $183.758 million, a 38 percent increase. Average selling price increased to $1.877 million from $1.597 million, a 17 percent increase. Days on the market decreased to 181 from 238, a 23 percent decrease.
