Gracious Easton Country Home Caters to Horses

There’s a house in Easton that lovers of the quiet life really should inspect. Currently owned by an Englishwoman who is moving back to her side of the pond, the house is decorated in true English country house manner. Take a look at the velvet curtains in the dining room. Stunning.

The house is artfully designed with large rooms and little wasted corridor space. The ground floor has a large family room attached to the kitchen, and the wall of windows opposite the fireplace look west over the paddocks. Yes, you can bring your own horse. Actually, you can bring six horses since there are six stalls in the stables.

The living and dining rooms are large enough for grand entertaining, and there’s a downstairs study/bedroom with a full bath. Could be a good nanny or granny set-up.

I always think it’s such a shame everyone enters a home through the mudroom these days. The front hall in this house is really lovely so make sure you stop to admire it. Upstairs you’ll find an enormous master suite and two large bedrooms. Go up to the top floor and there’s a whole guest suite with bed and sitting room.

For those of you who think Easton is at the end of the world, think again. It took me just over 15 minutes to reach this house from downtown Westport. And another thing. Easton has a brand new elementary school designed to look like an oversize barn. Fantastic architecture and it’s just a few hundred yards down the road.

605 Morehouse Road in Easton has recently been reduced to $998,000.
