Easton Resident Raves About Town

Amy Waugh Curry might just be Easton’s biggest fan. A Southport native, Amy and her ex-husband moved to Easton in 1994 when they realized they could get a lot more house for their money than in lower Fairfield County. As her two children went through the Easton public schools, Amy became a fan of the system. “And have you seen the new elementary school?” she asks. “You must take a look at it.” She’s right. The new school is beautiful. It looks like a giant barn, a nod to Easton’s farming roots.

Amy’s enthusiasm for her town is catching, and since she works as a realtor that can only be a plus. Her beat also takes her to Wilton and Weston, as well as Fairfield and Westport. “Inventory in Westport is really low right now in the $800,000 to $1.5 million price range,” she says. If you’re thinking of selling your home soon this is the perfect time to start the process.

Amy classifies herself a “hard worker.” “I used to work in the charcuterie department at what was once Hay Day (and now Balducci's), then I got a job selling infant bedding,” she says. Now she sells houses. Last year was her best yet and she’s confident this year will be as good. She doesn’t have a lot of time for hobbies, though she did make a new year’s resolution to read at least half an hour a day. “I’ve just finished The Elegance of the Hedgehog,” she gushes. “You’ve got to read it!”

So apart from the schools, what is it that Amy likes about Easton? “You have privacy here,” she says. “You can see the stars. It’s peaceful, and it’s nice to be from a place where there are farms.”
