Multi-Million Dollar Darien Home Goes to Auction

What's the first thing that springs to mind when you think of an auction? An oil painting? An heirloom necklace? A George III chest of drawers? Certainly not a multi-million dollar waterfront mansion in an exclusive corner of Connecticut's Gold Coast.

On June 25, Concierge Auctions will be in Darien bringing down the hammer on a 6,779 square-foot waterfront estate that has been on the market since April 2010.

The French Norman-style home on 2.03 acres next to Scott's Cove in the Tokeneke neighborhood was built in 1998 and renovated 10 years later. There are five bedrooms and bathrooms, parking for five cars as well as a guest cottage. A deck wraps around the waterfront side of the house and there is an in-ground pool and hot tub.

Bidders at the auction must include a $250,000 deposit with their bid application. The successful bidder will have to put down 10 percent of the final selling price at the end of the auction and complete the sale within 30 days. The current asking price for the home, which is represented by Doug Milne of Kelly Associates in Darien, is $12.5 million.
