Even as residents rallied to help those affected by collecting needed items and money, Investigators said the fire was caused by carelessly discarded smoking materials. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.

The Beardsley Zoo welcomed two tiger kittens — but it looks like staffers are more excited than their massive mom. The zoo’s 10-year-old Amur tiger Changbai gave birth to four cubs on Nov. 25. Sadly, two died, and Changbai showed no interest in the remaining two females. “We are hand feeding the babies five times a day,” said Zoo Director Gregg Dancho.
The Westfield Trumbull Mall will soon have a new owner as part of a nearly $16 billion transaction. The Australian-based Westfield Corp. has been acquired by Unibail-Rodamco, headquartered in Paris. Westfield Corp. owns 30 malls, including the Westfield Trumbull Mall and the shopping center at the World Trade Center.
Famed chef Mario Batali, who owns the popular Tarry Lodge in Westport, is the latest man to come under fire after accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct. He has been removed as co-host of the afternoon talk show "The Chew" on ABC.
Tucker West, who learned the sport of luge on a track built in the backyard of his Ridgefield home by his father, will be making his second trip to the Olympics. West was the youngest man ever to represent the U.S. in luge when he went to the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014.
