Showers and thunderstorms could bring 1 to 3 inches of rain to localized areas of northern Fairfield County, the lower Hudson Valley and northeast New Jersey, the weather service said.
Showers and thunderstorms could produce 1 to 2 inches of rain per hour during the day and into the evening Friday. Moderate to heavy rain is possible into Friday night as a cold front moves through the region, the weather service said.
Combined with previous rainfall from Thursday and the overnight, the additional heavy rain could result in flash flooding, the weather service said.
The weather picture is not a complete washout, though. Mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the 80s are forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Fairfield County, the weather service said.
