Duff Welcomes Challenger

Sen. Bob Duff welcomes the challenge. Hearing that Republican Artie Kassimis is running for the Connecticut State Senate seat currently held by Duff, the incumbent responded, “I encourage anyone with an interest in running for public office. The voter deserves a choice.”

Kassimis, who formally declared his candidacy at the Norwalk Republican Town Committee meeting on Monday evening, said his top two campaign priorities would be job growth and cutting taxes on small businesses. Duff, who will be running this year for his fourth term as senator, noted, “In the last three months, Connecticut was one of seven states in the country to actually grow jobs. But we need to get more people back to work and faster.”

Cutting taxes on small businesses was a consistent theme among candidates at the Republican Town Committee. In response, Duff pointed to the endorsement he received from the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and said, “I’ve blocked a number of initiatives that would have put more of a burden on small businesses.”

The Norwalk Democratic Committee said it is committed to returning Duff to Hartford in November. Committee chairman Marc Bradley said, “Bob has been a dedicated public servant with a long record of getting results for the people of our district and the state.”
