STAMFORD, Conn. Juanita James of Stamford takes over as president and CEO of the Fairfield County Community Foundation in the fall. She was chosen from a field of more than 80 applicants nationwide to replace Susan M. Ross.
The foundation has a superb reputation for identifying and addressing some of the regions greatest challenges and helping its fund holders strengthen our communities through smart philanthropy, James said in a press release.
James has more than 37 years of corporate experience and has also worked for nonprofits locally and nationally. Her most recent business experience was as chief marketing and communications officer at Pitney Bowes Inc. She has also worked at Time Warner Inc. and Bertelsmann Inc., the release said. Her community involvement includes being a member of the Childcare Learning Centers leadership council and being an ordained elder and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford.
James has a masters degree in business policy from Columbia University and a bachelors in romance languages from Princeton University. She has lived the last 22 years in Stamford with her husband, Dudley Williams Jr., and their son Dudley Williams III.
Ross announced in February that she would step down, the release said. She spent 15 years with the Norwalk-based Fairfield County Community Foundation. During that time it grew from $10 million to $150 million in assets, the release said.
James officially starts Oct. 3.
