All Nunny Needs is Love -- and a Home

Some dogs audition for a new home by pulling out all the stops: they wag, wiggle, bark, fetch and slobber. But not five-year-old Nunny, a 70 pound Great Pyrenees mix. She's more reserved, lady-like and quiet. Self-promotion is not her thing so she hangs back a bit. She doesn't jump up, even when she's excited. She also doesn't need to be crated, her foster mom Cathy Davis of Fairfield says, because she gets it that the couch cover is not dental floss and your Nikes aren't chew toys.

Nunny was pulled from a Texas shelter and made her way to Connecticut through National Great Pyrenees Rescue. Maybe she's seen a thing or two in her day. But if her past life once dampened her spirits, she has rebounded with her fine character and loving nature intact. She is gentle, loves to kiss (especially children) and even happily goofs around with cats. (Though she doesn't want them near her food.) Nunny hasn't been around other dogs much and can be afraid at first, Cathy says. But she relaxes if the other dog is laid back. The Good Dog Foundation has given Nunny the green light to be a therapy dog, which says a lot about her. She's spayed, has her shots and is ready for re-homing. As Andy Rooney said, “The average dog is a nicer person than the average person.“ And Nunny is way above average.
