Shop These Must-Have Looks for Fall

Designers and stylists are shaking things up this fall, offering lines and looks we haven’t seen trending in several seasons. There are looks for all shapes and accessories for every body.

Here’s my short list of “must have” looks for autumn:

Widen-up – After several seasons of banishment, wide leg pants have quietly been making their way back into the fashion fold. This season, they snag the spotlight big time. Belled, bootcut or flaired bottoms balance out your mid-section for a silhouette is incredibly flattering and ladylike. But don’t think that going wider will make you lose your edge. You can rock a slim pant with a slight flair at the bottom and look like you’re ready to tour with the Stones.

Tuxedo chic – More Bacall than Bogart, this season’s romance with tuxedo jackets for women is a celebration of feminine strength. It’s a tailored look you can wear almost any way you want. Dress it up with a loose, leggy pant, or take it down a notch for daytime with rolled up sleeves and a great pair of jeans. The tuxedo jacket is your ticket to looking pulled together anytime of day or night.

Show some leg – Speaking of Bacall, this season’s evening looks are a smoulderingly sexy throwback to the halcyon days of Tinsel Town. Dress hems graze the floor, but achieve new heights with flirtatious side and front slits that slide up just as high as you’re willing to wear them.

Cozy up – And then of course, there are those days where you just want to wrap yourself in your down duvet and call it an ensemble. Fortunately for all of us, the big, cozy sweater is back. Cowls and asymmetrical lines refresh this staple and will keep you from looking like you’re recycling something your grandmother made for you in middle school. Wrap yourself in the warmth of this look and pair it with everything from a flowing maxi skirt to a slim pair of leggings. It’s the perfect marriage of class and comfort.

Stack it – Accessories go eclectic for fall, with stacked, mismatched bracelets. There are no rules when it comes to this look, and more is definitely more. Play with color, texture and materials to achieve right-this-minute style.
