10 a.m.: “Paws on Parade” dog walk 11 a.m.: “Spuds on a Spoon” challenge Noon: Prize drawings

You can join the Great NRVT Treasure Hunt anytime, and use GPS or low-tech clues to find the treasure on the trail.

Parking is in the commuter lot, adjacent to Orem’s Diner and the intersection of Route 7 and Wolfpit Road in Wilton. Attendees should proceed to the Welcome Tent via the Wolfpit and Route 7 crosswalks and the short section of trail to Gaylord Drive North. The rain date is Sunday.

Saturday’s opening is also an opportunity to walk the new trail, and learn about the NRVT’s vision for environmental, health and economic benefits in our communities. With the continuing support of these communities, the NRVT anticipates quickly extending the demo trail up to Pimpewaug Road.

The NRVT project aims to build 38 miles of multi-purpose trail connecting Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk to Rogers Park in Danbury, passing through Wilton, Ridgefield and Redding on the way. In addition to creating recreational opportunities for walkers, hikers, cyclists, kids, pets and - on some stretches - equestrians, the NRVT will offer a green and healthy transportation alternative to reach rail stations, schools, offices and businesses.
